Benevidez looked even better in sum areas, but I agree, sumthing wasn’t quite as good…don’t know if it was the weight, the opponent, or the game plan but sumthing def looked dif…as far as him beating beterbiev or bivol, I would say only if they get old over night but now I’m hearing Benavidez touched bivol up in sparring 😳🤷🏻‍♂️

Beterbiev and Bivol both beat Benavidez convincingly his defense is improving but he still leaves big openings when hes opening up with his offense, and his power looks non existent, he landed a lot of clean punches and Gvozdyk didnt seem phased or hurt at any point. He's gonna struggle against top LHWs who are naturally bigger men and hit harder, i dont know if he could even beat an Anthony Yarde. Never believed the weight bully narrative about Benavidez before this fight, but this performance shows it. From the looks of this performance he wouldve lost to the version of Gvozdyk that fought stevenson or beterbiev. I could be completely wrong and Gvozdyk just has a godly chin and punch resistance.

Benavides was fighting at 168 for the money fights but he's naturally a lightheavy weight. He should stop worrying about canelo and focus on 175.

Canelo outpoints this Benavidez. Too many mistakes and Canelo hits harder, has a granite chin than the last few guys Benavidez has fought.

Benavidez doesn't beat Bivol or Beterbivev after his performance against Gvodzyk. Beterbiev is too strong and stops Benavidez and Bivol wins a comfortable decision.

Gvozdyk has lost his biggest assets - his legs and his speed. He was a stationary target, he tapped away but he didn't seem to have any snap in his movement. He basically fought like an ageing fighter, conserving energy and blocking. Benavidez won rounds by being the younger, sharper, more active guy but he couldn't put a dent in Gvozdyk despite being able to hit him at will. Very unimpressive. He gets beaten not just by bivol and beterbiev but also by the younger dudes - Buatsi, Yarde, etc.

The best in the game. Always appreciate your boxing analysis, Paulie. The only unbiased opinion I enjoy listening to. But I will respectfully say this about Tank being matched with Loma over Shakira (autocorrect did that but I kept it 😂). Although I’d love to see him face Shakur, STYLISTICALLY Loma is a more entertaining matchup seeing how he uses angles to throw punches in bunches whereas Shakur will likely use every square inch of that ring to jab and pull back with no counters. Loma will still get clipped in my opinion but he’s still 1 of the best that division regardless of age. Tank was still finding discipline and missing weight when people were calling for Loma. So both sides can make a case there Although he (Shakur) has a high ring IQ he has yet to show grit. Floyd showed grit and bit down Every time his heart & chin was tested (Agustus, Castillo, Chop chop, Mosley, Cotto etc.). W/o an injury, having an “off night” is hardly an excuse for the De Los Santos performance. We all have those days but at minimum, where is the bite down?? I’ve been in the ring with Tank and you don’t need to be in there to know he’ll bite down because we see it. All that to say is although the Shakur fight Was number 1 on my list for Tank - it won’t be until he Fights De Los Santos again and actually shows he’s not afraid to get in the mix and box when needed. Him having true champion grit is yet tbd … I’ll still buy though lol. Let’s talk boxing Paulie!! 😂
